Well there were 2 main good points about beast wars.
1st, the story, which most people do enjoy and admit it was loads better than armada and energon.
2nd. The weapons. It thanks to beast wars i think that nearly all the weapons could be stored in either beast mode or robot mode, therefore reducing the chance of things getting lost.
Just thought id type this as a random thought...

Don't forget the characters either!

It changed the continuity of G1, merging it with Beast Wars.

I personally think it kick started a lot of new interest in TF culminating in the TM releases which if anything brought a loit of old fans back to the fold. I was guilty of dismissing BW for the first season as a crappy G1 KO until one day when wortking at Toymaster TM1 Tarantulas was delivered.

I have to say, when I first saw beast wars I was intrigued by the fact it was transformers .. but then was so overwhelmingly put off by the fact they were beasts. I just couldnt pry myself away from the notion that they were not half as good as G1 the real deal and I still feel that way about the toys.
In my view BW and BM were great in terms of the cartoon, their storylines have been unparalleled and are great enjoyment, but I dont think the toys will ever appeal to me .. simply because they are not vehicles .. or how I feel robots should be .. This has always been the case with me and it shall continue to do so.
I only have a very small number of beast transformers from any series and I think it shall decrease rather than increase .. !

Well, certainly there's no match for robots that become vehicles rather than beasts, and G1 will always be the best because it's G1. On the other hand, the BW universe and characters are amazing, and that makes even the lame toys worth having. And the likes of TM2 Megatron, TM Tarantulas, etc, are cracking toys even before you think about their show characters.

I do agree with you in both respects and I think the characters for both BW and BM were amazing, so was the storyline, and practically everything about it! But I just cant get my head around the toys!

When I first saw them I saw them in stores before seeing any of the episodes. I thought it was some sort of sick joke at first that some company came out with a mock Transformers because there had been some knock offs over the years. Then I saw the episodes and my opinion changed in that they were decendents of the G1 chracters. I grew to like them. My favorite chracter is Rat Trap because he always had some sort of witty line or insult and was always picking a fight with Dinobot.

It was not until last year that I gave Beast Wars a chance. And i'm glad I did. I think for me besides the characters and story the best way it affected Transformers was that it gave us small but fantastic mythology building moments. Example and I think the most important The Spark. I think that was really the best thing it gave us.

BW kick started Transformers all over again with new life, new characters and new toys, without BW we wouldnt have gotten RiD, Armada, Alternators or anything else.
No matter what people think of the toys its thanks to Beast Wars that we have all things Transformer again, Beast Wars was a 2nd chance which we must be eternally grateful for

Am I the only one who thought BW was cool from the very start... as in as soon as I saw the toys.
I guess it might be because I liked pretenders and never really had a problem with Beast modes. Sure a vehicle makes way more sence and is more effective most of the time, but I liked the Cyborgy nature that the boxart seemed too show... and then after I found out the reason why the beast modes thing it just made much more sence.
I didn't actualy see the TV show till about a year after I first found the original wave of Beastwars on the shelves and that just esculated by intrest even further.
Just a shame I was utterly skint and never bought anything more than Optimus Primal and Megatron.
Took me another year too actualy start buying more BW toys... but I was in china at that point so they were naff KOs.
BM however was a diffrent matter as I didn't like the look at all. Even though the show was exelent it couldn't motivate me too buy a single BM toy (save recoloured molds I have now bought through Universe and RID)

[glow=blue,2,300]Beast Wars probably saved Transformers. TF was languishing in G2 obscurity until BW put out an entirely new twist on the Transformers. I know fans who say they had never heard of TF until Beast Wars, and still like BW better than G1. The gift that BW gave was not so much it's new ideas but it captured NEW FANS. Without renewing the source of fans (money), their is no reason to continue to produce, and there have been many fun toys produced since BW.[/glow]

BM was a real shasme as the show was excellent but the toys largely did not reflect it. Inb themselves they werent all terrible toys but they sadly were far far from show accurate, at least in the first few waves anyway.

yeah but its starteling how few toy lines are show accurate.
Its almost imposoble too find a show accurate Gen1 toy. Animation takes libertys with the designs too have them transfer a bit easier into a show. Whether that be adding a face and slight remodeling or sometimes a diffrent colour sceme if they dont have the toys infront of them
