One thing to say, the show is just about better than Armada, nowhere near BW, BM, RID or G1 quality. However, I'm pleased to see Toonami advertising its showing a lot, shows that they have a dedication to it.

I noticed today there's putting it up head to head with that other new big robot cartoon thing shortly. Probably deciding which one to cancel, or at least relagate to late nights.
Onto Energon in general. The 3D animation is utterly appalling in some places, and compared to the graphical majesty of Beast Machines, it's laughable. Story-wise, it remains exactly the same as Armada - the overall plot is excellent in its dramatic scope, but suffers from being a) poorly told in its original iteration and b) lumped with the most half-hearted translation job I've seen on a mainstream anime ever.
I find myself having to go over every bit of dialogue, trying to re-interpret what I've just heard so it makes something approaching sense, like playing Tetris. The apathetic writers/translaters are actually making me WORK to enjoy the cartoon. Not too cool. It can be best expressed thus: if they truly understood and more importantly CARED about what they were doing, would they have really let Jetfire talk about "synchronising their breathing" in a cartoon about giant ROBOTS?
Note that at OTFCC, there's a Hasbro panel, a Dreamwave panel, but no panel by the people in charge of the cartoon. They're out of contact with the fans, and they really don't give a monkey's.

Hasbro have stated that a new animation studio will be handling Cybertron.
So all those folks who just kept on picking at the same faults in Armada and the same stuff in Energon, will have a new Studio to complain about.

Any time in either cartoon wheer it goes quiet, someone just says 'huh?' to fill the gap, or worse, soemone like Ironhide or Snow Cat says something.

This is a symptom of anime culture, much of which in Japan is adapted from Manga comic books. In a comic book, it's quite acceptable to have a frame with a character reacting to something, if for no other reason than to show they're paying attention. Applied to anime and taken a whole culture out of context, it means having lots of shots lasting a second or two of people going "huh?" like utter morons. Or so it seems to us damn westerners.

I realise I got into quite a bitch about it, didn't I? Whoops. I'm normally a lot more accomodating about the shows, but one thing led to another, you know. Well, this is good news, because I really don't much like the style of Armada/Energon. It feels like they just don't care. I'll be interested to see whether an American studio or another Japanese one will take on Cybertron. I suspect the latter, since these days they can quite easily undercut American studios, and the show needs to go out to Japan anyway.

New studio IS always good news. I don't care, whatever they produce, even if I whine, has to be better than the Aeon produce.

So Starscream was brought back partially by Alpha Q.
Tomorrows episode should explain a liitle more about Starscream, I hope.
I like that the Omnicons can copy the Decepticon technology.
The scene where all the Divebombs were holding the Battle Ravages looked quite good.
Whats everyone’s opinion on this episode?

Having missed Megatrons revival, I wasn't really ready for the jump in action which happened within this ep. Have to say, par 1 inconsistancy the ep was entertaining (Megs in space, then recieves the Energon infront of a blue sky then flashes back to space?). The highlight for me was the sword clashing between Op's and Megs and the after-effects on the surrounds....looked pretty cool. The pace of the story seems to have moved up a few gears as does the cgi. I noticed the black outlining wasn't as thick as in the earlier eps.

It was nice to see Kicker chipping in with the slaughter again. He's definitely more interesting than the Armada kids. Did anyone else find it slightly disconcerting that Jetfire seems to have no eyes? ( I know the toy has a visor, but still....)

So... Starscream the Mysterious Mercenary. Oh. Man. I don't know what counts for a decent title in the US of States, but round here, that kinda thing just plain sucks. Real shame actually, since the episode was quite a good one.
I do have a couple of points though.
1) Firstly, Starscream has no sense of direction. At the beginning when he's going after Optimus, he actually seems to go around in circles, visiting the same three corridors over and over. Man.
2) Not only was the scene between Scorponok and Demolisher impossibly badly translated, what the hell has happened to Demolisher's voice? I mean, I liked the guy who did him until now. He worked well. Now suddenly switching actors jutts out like... uh... something that's REALLY jagged. I dunno. Anyways, I really hope this was just a temporary thing, and the usual voice actor comes back in the next episode.

Now I don't speak Japanese's but from what I hear energon has just been ruined in translation, people speak of super link being on par with beast wars, I'm finding energon to just be bleh, I'm actually enjoying watching super link more even though I don't understand a word of it.
Edited cos for some reason all the ' turned in ?
