Really? I'd always assumed Constructicons do well since they were very well known and made plenty appearances in the comic and tv show and movie but I don't recall them ever being available in the UK during the 80s anyway. Hook was actually the only one I had as a kid though it was brief as it turned out to be a knock off from the market and there had been a local news report about the toxicity of the paint on them so she threw it out.

You know, if it was from a market in the eighties and it was painted with toxic paint, then it was possible it was an imported (and now pretty darn rare) mexican version. They came into the UK (and Holland i think) via the so called "grey market" to try and meet demand. The paints used had lead in them, and a lot of them where stripped of paint when they got here and repainted I believe. Maz probably has a report on it somewhere, as he appears to have excellent articles about all of these sorts of things!

So you're saying it might have been ok after all? That it might have been stripped and repainted? I remember being upset as hell when she threw it out and said I couldn't have any more from the market. I thought I was finally gonna get Devastator...

O, I'm just getting scared now. Hook is up to £21. This sort of ridiculous price for a played with loose toy always makes me wonder about if i have described the item in enough minutae.

Aw, I know what ya mean. I get that feeling too when something of mine does unexpectedly well. Just don't worry about it. Enjoy the money

Well he paid that much for a lot described as junk and got good feedback, so maybe he is some sort of toy fixing wizard!

That is strange. When I was buyingbits to make up Devastator I would never pay that much for a single bot.
I'm sure I got a complete Yellow Devastator for £23 including P&P, so that price is just rediculous.

i too had some tfs removed from my care in the eighties due to the high lead content. they were from walsall market. there was an actual report on this on one off the regional news programmes, cant remember which, they were afraid of young kids putting the tfs in their mouths and getting poisoned. shame, they were dirt cheap as i recall. about 15-20 quid for something like a menasor gift set. autobot cars about 5 quid. i miss the eighties
