Is there a way to get these into the right position when transforming him, or should I just keep taking the doors off as I've been doing, to pre-empt the inevitable falling off?

I didn't have any troubles with his arms. It was his head I couldn't do. Ended up popping it of, and then putting it back on once I was done

The doors/arms are a mystery to me. Maybe the english instructions would shed a bit more light.

I have the english instructions and they dont help at all. But it is only the doors i had trouble with, and possibly the positioning of the arms.

There is a history of tweaking and improving the mould for the recolour, so fingers crossed Wheeljack won't be so tricky. We can but hope...

I got BT Grimlock today - completely confused by the arms. No idea how you're actually supposed to transform him and keep the doors on. Grrr!

Yep, I got him yesterday and spent all night trying to figure it out. Doors, arms AND head all came off at one point. Less a Transformer, more a Lego man.
They've just got to improve it for Wheeljack. For a start his head is wider, so if they don't it's going to be impossible.
I mean, did anyone at Takara actually bother trying to transform this themselves before they sent it out on sale?

doubt it. Damn thing had me frustrated for hours and ended up with scratching paint off the legs connecting to the roof.....grrrrrr.
Alas, some silver paint sorted that out, but those blasted arms still give me a twitch thinking about it!

The first Grimlock i received was the Alternator and the instructions were not very useful. However the trick is to pay as close attention to the few pictures you are given of the doors in the instructions and try to line up the small jutting out pegs and little bits as best you can with the pics provided (especially close-ups of the arms).
Having written the Bt Grimlock review/article, I had to transform it many times and finally got the hang of it, by the end I could TF it and not lose any pieces.
I'm sure I've forgotten the trick by now.
All the best Maz

My Wheeljack arrived yesterday, and the first thing that happened, was the left door popped off. I didn't even start to transform it. I had just removed the clear plastic from around the roof and doors.
Several bits popped off while Transforming him as well. Arm, one leg, doors (Several times) and his head.
Looks cool, but a bit of a jigsaw, rather than a Transformer.

yeah, same thing happened to my Alt Grimlock as well, parts seems to just fly off - only way to transform them i think, is to take bits off

[glow=blue,2,300]Here I thought I was the only one. . .
When I tried to transform a buddy's Grimlock I decided I would not be purchasing the mustangs.
I don't care how cool Wheeljack's dome-piece looks, I'm not shelling out cash for a toy that's no fun to play with.[/glow]

Yeah, I wouldn't really recommend Grimlock. Apart from the question of giving non-car G1 characters an Alt car mode, he's way too tricky to transform, tends to have bits falling off, and just doesn't seem that interesting. Neither his bot or car mode do much for me.
