As I said earlier, the descision was based on the poor sales of the previous exclusives;
Universe Prowl and Side Burn Universe Sunstorm The SpYchanger Twin Packs Urination (Tiger Stripe Ruination)
They were generally flops, and were in cheap outlet stores in Amerca a few months after their release.
Needless to say, Wal Mart didn't want more like this.

As I said earlier, the descision was based on the poor sales of the previous exclusives; Universe Prowl and Side Burn Universe Sunstorm The SpYchanger Twin Packs Urination (Tiger Stripe Ruination) They were generally flops, and were in cheap outlet stores in Amerca a few months after their release. Needless to say, Wal Mart didn't want more like this. [glow=blue,2,300]Mayhap the problem wasn't that Universe is a bad line but that Prowl, Sideburn, and Ruination had already been repainted about ten million times each. Also, Sunstorm + three Mini-Cons for $20 American was a rip-off by about three bucks, and the Sunstorm mold had already seen two previous iterations. The Seacons, if we are indeed talking about the G1 toys, were released in the States ONCE, and that was over 15 years ago. The moral of the story: Hasbro needs a serious rectal crani-ectomy. It seems so simple. Make toys we ask for. WE WILL BUY THEM. But no, Hasbro keeps putting new paint jobs on the same old stuff. Grr. . . The weird thing is, I like the Universe line. It's the line of second chances. I've got Big Convoy (Nemesis Prime), Ramjet, Sunstorm, Nemesis Strika, Silverbolt, Dinobot Striker and more, all thanks to the second chances. It's the third, fifth and seventh chances that end up alienating us fans. [/glow]

It's boardroom economics that's spoiling Universe. They're trying to squeeze as much money from every mold as possible, which is why until recently they seemed intent on recolouring EVERY mold, even some of the less successful (we can only be thankful the Armada Hotshot repaint never saw the light of day). As far as the fans are concerned, it SHOULD be about rereleasing decent molds that haven't yet been in general or popular release, such as BWII/Neo, or rare ones like the Seacons. Hasbro need to reconcile the two demands if they want the line to continue.

On another note I am glad I got the testshot ones when I did last year if they are being put on hold/risk not coming out rather than do mny usual wait and get them on ebay style. Must own ALL Seacons no matter how garishly repainted!
