But darn you Streaky... I now want all of those figures! gah! I'd quite collecting but I'm soooooooo tempted.
must think of the children... must stop spending on action figures... grrrr...
Can I come round to play?

[glow=red,2,300] It's my one-man mission to bring Joe back across the pond to Britain... Hopefully so we have an established presence before the film...
As for coming to play - you guys are always welcome! I still keep meaning to sort out Blot-Con... Now back to the piccies...
1982...
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Here so far are the actual 25th anniversay Joes... these guys first saw the light of day in 1982 in GI Joe ARAH wave 1...
We have; Hawk Scarlett Stalker Flash Breaker and SE (in his original Commando gear)
Breaker and Hawk are both from the comic packs, hence the paint apps not being quite to the same standard as the others, however they are 100 times better than the repaints shown previously. Breaker is fantastic, even coming with a bubble-gum 'bubble' which attaches over his com-link to make it look like he's blowing bubbles... genius.
Hawk is in his original Artillary outfit, and is -essentially - a green paint of SE's body with a new Hawk Headsculpt. I have no problem with this as most of the Wave 1 figs from 1982 used the same body anyway back in the day, and the figure really looks nice. My only worry is the bright yellow hair... but that's covered by his lid, so no panic.
SE has more bags and pouches than you know what to do with. A lot of geeks moaned that the first figure of him released should have been the more familiar Visor and Timber version with sword... but they're 'Tards and don't understand the simple concept of '25th anniversary figure'...
Scarlett, Stalker and Flash are all nice, nothing special, but nicely done. An homage without being too much.

[glow=red,2,300] 1983/84
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] These boys are from Waves 2 and 3;
Snowjob is fantastic - removable hood, goggles, ski's, poles, pistol in holster and rifle. A big chunky lump of carded joy.
Duke is almost perfect - uniforms great, great kit, even coming with tiny binoculars. My only concern is his forearms which seem to 'gangle' a little bit...
Roadblocks M60 is huuuuuuge. Belt feed is detailed, and the whole thing is just gorgeously... chunky. Problems getting him on and off shelves without taking out 5 other figures...
GungHo is a lovely figure. The green is just perfect, although his washboard stomach is perhaps a little 'too' ripped. Best bit though is his RPG... it breaks in the middle ready to enter a grenade... how frickin' cool is that?

I sware that Breaker looks like he is rolling his eyes while blowing a bubble with some orange chewing gum in that picture.

[glow=red,2,300] 1985/86/87
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] These boys were much more commonly available over here in Britain, mostly under the guise of Action Force.
SE - Visor, Sword and Timber. Nice.
Lady Jaye - Nice figure. Face is a little squished, the hasbro boys don't seem to understand lipstick...
Flint - Cracking figure. Kit is really nice, only concerns are Dukes hands (they just look too long...) and his head is a little square...
Shipwreck - Figure is really nice! Looks just like ol' Hector. Problems are (and these are minor!) 1) Polly can't fit onto Shipwreck... his claws are just too small to fit around either SW's wrist or shoulder. He does fit on both the guns... but that's just stoopid... 2) No hook or flintlock pistol. SW has a hook and line and old flintlock pistol on the box, as did the old toy. New one comes with a pump action shotgun, a handgun and a machine pistol... 3)SW's right hand is a fist - not too much of a problem if he didn't come with three guns and a parrot - he's the only figure aside from the Cobra Air Troopers (and they come with helmets and kit for either air or land) that can't carry all of his own kit.
Beachhead - One of the best figures in the range. The detail is just like the original, however, you can make out that the red patch on his shoulder isn't just a lump, rather it's his red beret folded and held under a strap. Secondly, for those who remember the old fig - Beachheads crossbow is actuallt removable from his pack and can be put in hand!
GI JOE SS - I thought this was an odd inclusion for the line, coming in in 1987/88, he's the oldest figure remade so far. The model is simply a head and kit resculpt on the 1982 Cobra Ninja, but with the Joe markings. Lovely figure, but an odd choice for the range.

Rumour has it that there are some packs with pink chewing gum as well...

[glow=red,2,300] DREADNOKS!
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Always my favourites as a nipper! All four of these boys are 100% gorgeous!
Zartan - My face is still green, and his pack doesn't close properly... which is more than mildly irritating... that aside the toy is lovely!
Buzzer - Great figure, Chainsaw is huuuge and well detailed.
Torch - lovely. Even though he and Ripper are comic pack figures the paint apps are astonishingly well done - down to the Melbourne Maulers MC tag on his jacket with screaming skull motif.
Ripper - My first 'Nok! Strangley his axe-rifle was packaged in Torch's hand (he does have a lot of kit) and his back cable is just as irritating as the 1980's version! His wrecking equipment however opens and closes, and is molded to fit really snuggly into his back.

[glow=red,2,300] NINJA'S!
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Storm Shadow - The Young Master - The fig is really nice, especially the funky little throwing dagger that is removable from his sash. All of the Storm Shadows (and the Red Ninja) use this SS body with slightly different head sculpts for the Red Ninja and the GI Joe SS (as mentioned before). The detail on the gi is a nice touch, as is the Arashikage I-Ching not only on his backpack, but also on the habaki of the blades.
Red Ninja - Same as SS, but with a pointy head (like litle demon horns!) and a man catcher... very cool!
Firefly - The Faceless Master - Just like the SE figure, he's laiden down with stuff... belts, pistols etc, even his mobile phone. He does look a little gangly though...

[glow=red,2,300] TROOPS!
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Here's my 25th Troop builders so far;
CG's (x2) - Lovely figures, very thin and creepy! They come with (aside from the obligatory assault rifle) a 'Dirty Harry' .44 Magnum, which looks sooo funky... and slips into a thigh strap, which - unfortunatley looks like a bit of an afterthought, and isn't as well finished as a lot of the other figures.
Cobra Troopers (x4) - I have a mix of the Cartoon paint apps and Original paint apps. All are nice, although my preferance is for the original colouring. The cartoon app. has no gloves... which strikes me as odd for a masked terrorist...
Cobra Officers (x3) - 2 Stinger Drivers and 1 regular Officer. Same fig as the Trooper, but with 'V' markings on the lid, and different webbing. I love the paint apps. on the Stinger Drivers, although am a little disapointed they have no plans (at present) to produce a Stinger.
Cobra Air-Troopers (x2) - These are 2 more Troopers who come with an additional Jump pack and hose fitted rifle (comes as standard attached to the jump pack). Really well thought out, as each figure also comes packaged with a 'V' Helmet (as with the old Viper Hang Glider Trooper) and a Dragunov, so they can fit nicely into your rank and file.

[glow=red,2,300] VALOR VS VENOM
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Whilst the colour apps are nice, I really don't understand the decision behind this...
Here are CC and SS from the Legions box set. The set contains these two, plus the Stinger Driver (cool!) Cartoon app. Trooper (ok...) and the Cobra Air Trooper (Very cool!). The paint apps. for SS and CC seem to be taken from the Valor Vs Venom storyline that ran through the last waves of figures released in stores, some two to three years ago. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice - the Black and Silver CC looks the most menacing of the 25th CC's, and the Dragon embossed SS is pretty darn cool... but why release them for the 25th anniversary boxed set? Seems daft to me...

[glow=red,2,300] M.A.R.S ATTACKS!
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Here are both of Destro's 'looks', Silver mask from the early days of Cobra, and Gold Highland look from when the Iron Grenadiers split from Cobra to become a major force in their own right.
Both figures are glorious. Ol' Silver face (It's actually a metalic Grey paint app. the Comic pack one has an actual shiny faux-silver face, like the 1984 toy, but just doesn't cut the mustard...) has lots of kit, including M.A.R.S briefcase with clip in experimental laser pistol. Gold Face (this one does have a shiny faux-gold face, just like the 1988 toy) is tooled up with Claymore dangling from a hanging scabbard, and a small gold six-shooter attached to the top of his Knee-highs. Off the shoulder cape and spiky shoulder body armour complete the look.
Have mentioned the Baroness before, so won't go into more detail... but she does look really nice side-by-side with the Shiny-headed one...

[glow=red,2,300] COBRA COMMANDERS!
[/glow] [glow=red,2,300] Have mentioned Plate-Face CC before, and Rag-Face is just as nice. Same fig with different head, and a much darker blue paint app. to match the Cobra Troopers... Rag-Face feels much more 'terroristy' than the bright blue cartoonesque Plate-Face.
Serpentor is entirely re-designed from his 1986 toy version, looking a lot like the recent comics version. He towers above the other figures, and his armour looks far more practical than the previous version. Snake Helmet is removable to reveal a shiny slap head. The figures armour looks very Roman, and I would think that it wouldn't take to much effort to re-paint into a gladiator style fig... if that's what tickles your fancy...

[glow=red,2,300] At the mo, what with having to import EVERYTHING, Joe collecting in the UK is pretty quiet... I'm always the token Brit on most sites I peruse...
I would have thought though that as the buzz for the movie kicks in - what with it having Ecclestone and Millar as two of the principles - we'll see it snowball. [/glow]
