Advanced Notice: New Board Pending

We thought we'd give you a bit of warning, though (if thing go to plan) it may end up only being a couple of days notice.

We are set to change message boards within the next 5 days depending how things go. This board will then be placed in Admin Mode so no-one will be able to post / register.

Unfortunately we are unable to bring your post counts over, at this time, though we have plans regarding this.

The board will be hosted by ourselves, meaning we have full control over the front and backend code, along with the rules. The board will be intergrated with Transformers At The Moon as well as Transformers Animated.com, Lucky Draw Transformers and The Visionaries.net (the latter not being available at first).

The new board will be a complete change from the current one and will start afresh.

We've been hoping to move boards for the last few years but have never gotten around to it. The board will be a work in progress. It is fully functional as a message board, to the same extent as Proboards. The introduction of the board means that we can once again start work on the members area of Transformers At The Moon which we lost in the last re-write.

One new function has already been developed, which will allow members to leave comments (via the site and board) on any gallery which appears on Transformers At The Moon as well as news submissions.

Anyone who submits news through the Submit News page will gain "news credits" against their account. Although this currently does not effect anything, we have plans to develop this in the future.

We have lots of plans for additional members features for the sites, as well as board enhancements and customisation. The only limit is time, but at least we shall finally be in a position to do the work.

The board has just been upgraded and needs to be tested now. There is one bug we need to iron out then it should be good to go.

It is slower than here, as it's more graphical and has more code to plug through.

Here's a visual of the Moon style sheet (the style changes depending on the domain you're on). The Animated section has actually been combined with the other Transformers areas now.

Just wondering, what about the current RPG?

Would it not be better, when the time comes, to disable sign-ups but shut all boards off from posting except The Mercanry Life? Just until it comes to the end of chapter 3. Then if there's a chapter 4, it can start of the new message board.

It would make more sense. It's be a shame to shift the RPG in the middle of an episode.

Yeah, if you could lock all boards except the RPG and remove all links to this board then it would be fine. If we're in the rpg we got the board bookmarked anyway

We fully agree and hope to do that, though I'll have to do some testing with Proboards to see what works and what doesn't. Failing that I may look to migrate all the RPG posts over to the newboard, so all the history is there.

Signature Rules
Oh, the new board has a Signature limit of 250x500 for any images and 255 characters for any text / links.
We were going to set the limit as 300 high, but that still still looked a little tall. The reason for the limits are simple.

1) Speeed.
2) Presentation - tall signatures are really annoying when you go to post.

So anyone with a sig pic larger then that had better start working on a new one.

These are 100x100 in size and we currently have over 2100 hosted avatars for you to oick from (basically every TF smiley and a few old smiles we used to have along with old avatar images we never uploaded previously.

If anyone has any "cool avatars" they'd like to make globally available, then we can add it to the stock.
