Its all pure speculation. At this stage the studio are thinking about plans for further films, but that's it, they are still looking to see what the film grosses overall.
2009 would make sense if they could get a script by the end of April. Then they'd have 6 months of filming and about 8 months of post production.

Well given the fact that half the fan community seems to have seen it at least three times each, I don't think we need to worry about the gross being too low to justify a sequel...
