Trivial question this, but it's been bugging me recently and i'm sure someone knows the answer; Why does transformers animated boxart over here have, you know, the actual box art? I'm pretty sure some loopy eu law replaced box art from all toy packaging with more product accurate photographs a couple of years ago so what's changed now?

Wasn't the reason stated because the poses depicted couldn't be made with actual toys? Animated toys are a bit more posable, so maybe they let it go?

That's esentially the reason. I think the Animated ones have been let through because they're marketed against a current cartoon. I wouldn't be supprised if the European versions of Universe have pictures of the toy. *** EDIT *** Looking at the already revealed images of Universe figures getting a European release, the box-art has been totally removed. Here's a couple of examples of Euro Vs US Universe boxes;

Thanks for the input all. I used to think it had something to do with the poses but Animated has debunked that surely, firstly, because the change initially took place in Energon where the figures were just as, if not more poseable than animated, and also the movie line, where all the US artwork was just a close up of the character's head, identical to the one on the toy. Weird eh?

I never knew about any of this. Interesting stuff to read and look at.

Apparently the single line which this whole farce has been based on is;
"The packaging must not misrepresent the contents"
This is a very small rule which applies to ALL items for sale in Europe, and it simply looks like Hasbro is being safer rather than sorry.

I'm a bit disappointed with Universe packaging.
