the last person i knew who had that problem had to take it back, as otherwise you have to destroy the case to get the dvd....

as a member of staff at the music chainly formally known as MVC, I know that you do need to take it back to get them out. They're awkward enough when you've got the equipment to do it properly...

I take it you mean the Reg Tags? www.amaray.com/downloads/AMARAYRedTag.pdfThey're designed, so that the disk cannot be removed without any damage to it or the case. Although you need the "speciality" unit to remove it, a cheap but powerfull degausing magnet can do it as well.

this happened to me once and since i was feeling lazy to go out again and return it. I ended up damaging the opening to remove the tag. It can be done with the right tools but like everyone says - it will damage the box, only slightly if you're careful enough

Awesome stuff as this weekend they couldnt get the tag out of a DVD at the counter using their useless machine. In the end they smashed the case on the desk top and it dropped out with no damage to the case or disc lol.
Quality security HMV.

Seems to be a common problem.... I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago with my copy of the 60s Batman movie purchased from Silverscreen. I ended up having to completely destroy the case to get it out. I'd have taken it back but the nearest Silverscreen is 30 miles away.

And the moral of this story is......Check the Red security tags have been removed when you buy a DVD in case the dumb salesperson that served you forgot to do it themselves. I was working for WHSmith over Christmas and had to deal with these type of security tags. It took me 6 attempts the first time I had to get one out 'cos the damma magnet thing inside this slot that you put the DVD into wouldn't 'grab' the security tag! Drove me nuts!

Wow, I just bought a DVD in FOPP and watched the girl take it out this time. I never knew they were long. Just thought they were little red lumps that sat in that hole

I used a knife and hacked away the last time that happened to me. I had to replace the case but that was far cheaper and easier than going back into London and returning it. Empty DVD case stolen from work = free Train ticket to London > £8... Staying at home watching anime = priceless GD has his priorities

My sister had one of these in her Charlie and the Chocolate Factory DVD case, and refused to believe that it wasn't put in by the factory, and untouchable by shop staff, which meant that the case was destroyed even though she was back in Brighton where the shop was the next day
