Woolworths has the original GI Joe movie on DVD for just £1.97, and have loads and loads of them at least in the branches I've been in. At that price it's worth picking up although be warned it is pretty awful.
To keep this posting on topic, here are some similarities between the GI Joe and TF movie plots. It's amazing that despite the same basic plot, the end result is so different.
- The goodie leader dies (although the script was changed at the last minute to avoid further psychological damage to kids, Duke 'comes out of his coma').
- Several new characters are introduced and old ones killed off
- The hero of the hour is the rebellious irresponsible brat who steps up to the plate at the time of greatest need.
- A new uber-villain is introduced
- B list celebs such as Don Johnson and Burgess Meredith provide voices
For an elite military unit, the Joes sure are remarkably undisciplined in this movie too.
