Well, as a BT/Alt fan these are interesting pieces of news. The Vauxhall news & the Ginrai/Black Convoy news bits are the ones I refer to. We knew since the convention the OP was coming out in this line so it was inevitable there would be a repaint, although surprised it's wasn't Magnus (maybe he's a bit over used?) but what is the story with Black Convoy? Did this character exist in the G1 line? Would it refer to the PowerMaster (God Master?) repaint they released in Japan or would this be Scourge from the RID line? (the first non G1 BT character) My knowledge of the Jap line is patchy, could any1 clarify who BT* Black Convoy could be? Now, Vauxhalls. Sounds likes we may have a small car vehicle contender for a certain small yellow minibot (& red one too!) I certainly hope so   But, hey, I'm biased. I drive one! ;D (A Corsa that is, not a Minibot  ) |

LOL that would be pretty cool as I drive a corsa too, though I think mine has developed cosmic rust, judging by the hole I found on the boot yesterday...I wonder if Wheeljack will do me a discount on repairs?

And I would have MUCH preferred Ultra Magnus to another lame-o "Evil Prime." I was really hoping the well would run dry on that idea.[/glow]

Ya know I was kinda wanting the Optimus repaint as kup (with a slight head remould)............
just here me out on this, ok a lame excuse but in my eyes I always took Kup as a futuristic pickup, plus would kinda be funny since re-issue kup was Orion Pax..no one? oh well
Anyhoot like the idea of a corsa, since I drive one. Now if only we get a blue one...........

Don't get your hopes up too much as the Vauxhalls mentioned on the box are just in a background image on the back of Skid's box.
I can't be bothered to have a look at the other BT boxes, but is this the first time a real photo has been used on BT packaging?
It does seem a very odd choice of image.

The pic shoes old Astras & Ford Escort vans. I can't see Takara/Hasbro branching out into 'classic' cars just yet.

I don't think it's intended to be a "non G1 BT character", more a gratuitous repaint, not based on any particular Black Prime, just milking the fact that certain collectors like black Primes. And if you have to link it to G1 in your own head, think of it as being inspired by JAFCON Convoy. The BT story will probably go something like "The decepticons stole the design for Optimus Prime and used it to create their ultimate weapon of destruction. He has the same strength and knowledge as Prime, but uses it for evil purposes", or something  |

Would it be possible for someone to explain to me (someone who doesn't know anything about RiD) why people are suggesting the repaint of Prime/Ginrai be Scourge? (To me, Scourge is a hovercraft, you see). Is this RiD Scourge a relation of the G1 character? And who is Dark Convoy? What's going on?

RID Scourge was an 'evil' Prime cause he was black and everyone knows that when you go evil your wear black duds (and smoke too). He was created when a protoform scanned Megs and Prime simultaneously for it's reformatting creating an Prime form with Meg's dark side.
The toy was a dark/black repaint of G2 Lazer Prime (which is now e-hobby Magnus too).
He's no relation to the G1 character of the same name.
