Think i'll pass on these, never been a fan of Mirage or Devastator for that matter.
Just been reading a couple of threads on TFW2005, mainly people winging about KOs one way or another.
I think many people are missing the point slightly. These KOs are very, very good, but in the flesh aren't as good as orginals - paint chipping, colour, just the lower quality feel. But ultimately it comes down to economics.
Having said that, i have the Ratbat, Laserbeak &Ravage sets, which were fine & Swoop (thanks again, Starscreams Ghost), which stands up straight in robot mode (apparently this is unusual). I suppose the only dissapointments are that one of the launchers doesn't fit into the wing and the missiles don't stay in the launchers.
But, the point is that while this KO wasn't cheap, it was much cheaper than a good quality original (boxed or otherwise), and was (just about) under my (self impossed, admitely) top limit for a TF.
Also, it is a little disapointing and a bit naive of me i suppose, to find so many complaining about the affect this has on the price of originals. Well, 1) I thought most of 'us' collected because we love the characters, or the engineering, or because there a small part of us that still wishes we were 8 years old on xmas morning opening a brand new Optimus Prime. I hadn't realised that 20 year old toys were an investment oportunity. Maybe I'll cash in my ISA's, stocks & pension for as many Jap Dino-Cassettes as I can find.
And 2) If there were Takara or Hasbro alternatives, I expect that we would all be buying them. So far (apart from OP) this guy has only produced stuff that Has/Tak apparently have no desire to do (or can't) and, yet again Takara are going to relase OP and 'Scream. Iconic charaters, yes, but saturation point surely looms. And, if official reissues of Swoop did become availiabe, I for one would buy one regardless of the fact that I have the KO, which great as it is (and it does look fantastic on my deskwith my other 3 dinobots) i'd always rather have a pukka one.

I might be tempted by Mirage, but Devastator would have to be very cheaply priced for me to be tempted. Dev's just to complicated and fragile, so even with the improved plastic that these KO's have over the very poor quality KO's, I think it could still turn out poor when compared to the original.
Unfortunately my Swoop KO came with Grimlock's sword and with the bubble lifting in places, so that's left me with a few negative feelings to-wards these KO's.

i like ko's but my problem with them is they are ko's and still highly overpriced, they must only cost pennies to make these,
i think someone on tfw2005 said he is doing metroplex too lol cant be cost effective lol.

Also, it is a little disapointing and a bit naive of me i suppose, to find so many complaining about the affect this has on the price of originals. Can't speak for anyone else, but it's not the value that bothers me. It's the fact that there are now realistic bootlegs of all the Decepticon cassettes, Optimus Prime, Swoop, Beachcomber, Seaspray, and now Mirage, Wheeljack, and possibly Devastator floating around, to create a lot of uncertainty over what's real. All I can say is that I'm glad I got my G1 figures well before any of this fake KO crap popped up.
