Just curious. Those of you that have Pretenders do you normally display the robots out of the shell, perhaps to show they are complete, or do you keep them inside, maybe to save space. Sorry it's a weird question. I just been wondering since I have Carnivac and Landmine now and need to put some new shelves up cos my Classics and Powermaster Prime (the only one of my original G1 toys from my childhood left ) taking up the main shelf.

I only collect Decepticon pretenders mainly but they are all displayed in their shells. The robots are faily generic and it's the shells which I like as they give them more character than a generic car-bot.

Inside the shells purely to save space. There's a couple I'd like to get out the shells but that would mean putting even mroe toys on the floor as the cabinet is full

I just found the belt for Skullgrin, whom I sold last year in a big G1 lot. I'm now trying to decide whether to sell the belt on ebay or keep it for myself for the time I manage to bid on another Skullgrin who may be missing his belt...
decisions, decisions...
Been playing around with Landmine today. I remember being a kid I was quite disappointed the Pretenders opened at the sides rather down the front/back like in the comics. Seemed more dramatic having them split open and in the darkness seeing the robot eyes lighting up from within the halves of the shell. Pretender Beasts can do that though but not the originals. Still fun toys though but I'm just getting ideas of perhaps making a custom Pretender and how the shell itself could be more articulated. Perhaps the robot would have to fold itself up more so it didn't use the leg area. Carnivac folds up mainly because the wolf legs are just too thin to have anything in them, but he is a much smaller robot than the original Pretenders. I find something interesting about the squishy shells of the lil Pretender Monsters too. Sure got me thinking bout things. Since Classics seems over I've just been wondering how other toys from the G1 range could be updated with today's technology. Be an interesting custom project anyways.

Pretenders have the potential to be awesome with the toy technology these days.
I've always liked the Decepticon ones... The monsters looks so much better than the chubby human suited autobots.
The Pretender Monsters live in my fridge and weird everyone out when they see them lurking up on the top shelf

I prefered some of the Autobot ones like Cloudburst and Landmine partly the color schemes and due to the comic stories of them encountering the Mechannibals or when Cloudburst had that alien woman come on to him, and him to reveal to her that he's a robot and then promptly gets his head chopped off by her. Fun stories Like I said above I had Skullgrin as my only Decepticon Pretender and I was disappointed that the toy was a lot fatter than the rather cool looking comic incarnation. Something about his toy shell reminded me of my grandmother too... which is weird. Weirdest place I've heard to display your TFs

Cloudburst seemed far too strangly concerned with Landmine in those stories. Old Landmine was flirting it up with those big amazon chicks... but not Cloudburst. Even as a kid I thought Cloudy was a little bit off... but then again he's a robot.
Skullgrin reminds you of your grandmother... I... I.. really cant say too much to that.
Heh... yeah the monsters live in the fridge. I heard something years ago about some of their shells going moldy or sticky and they should be kept in a cool place. So from then on they lived in the fridge. Everyone laughs when they see them, so I just keep them there.

Are you american and have one of those huge fridges? Cos I sure can't fit even my weekly food in mine, certainly not a range of TF's even as small as Pretender Monsters.
I can't remember but weren't the Monsters a combiner as well?

I'm Scottish... but I do live in america. The fridge is pretty big I suppose. They sit on the top shelf of the door guarding it against midnight snackers.
They do combine yes... a wee bit small but very cool. One of my favorite Combiners. I think only topped by Leokaiser in G1. Got their Dino Force counterparts as well but they are on a regular shelf with the rest of the TFs

Liokaiser is my least favorite combiner though so I'm not sure if I'd like the Monsters combined form or not. I'll have to look it up later.

Not sure keeping the gold bot in there with the shells is wise though dude - the bugger is brittle enough as it is...

OK just seen Monstructor and yeah he looks alright. Bit weird colors but he looks better the bland Dinoking version of him. Not my favorite combiner design by a long shot but he looks fun and the Pretender Monsters seem like a good little group to own if you can get them all.

Strangely I've never had any problems with gold plastic. Even roadblock is still ok and he went everywhere with me as a kid. I do have a back up Slog who sits on my computer. He is the Erick Cartman of the Transformer world.

I had Roadblock up until last year. He was in perfect condition and I hadn't heard about that gold plastic problem then. Worried if it's gonna be difficult to get him again in good condition.
