I've just got off the phone to the company behind the light-up Transformers t-shirts that were seen by those in attendance at Paramounts UK preview of the Transformers Movie.

The t-shirts got a big reaction by those in attendance, including Empire Magazine and Titan Books and by what they've told me of the USB keyrings (Autobot and Decepticon logos, which change into USB sticks), these should also prove a hit with Transformers fans.


I hope to have more information on these products a little later in the week, but for now I can give you the following information.


The shirts have UK and European distribution, as well as a select few resellers in the US
The shirts will be sold by places like IWantOneOfThose.com, firebox, Play and Forbidden Planet.
Currently the rights are only for Transformers Movie characters, but if they sell well there could be designs for pre and post movie characters.
Although we appear to be the only Transformers fan-site which was invited to the event, and as such we're only 2 of 400 people to have seen the items, believe us when we say they looked really cool.

I'm curious about the line about "It will be interesting to see how the BBFC react to the sexual references and language in this scene". What exactly was stated? It was reported elsewhere that Sam's mum explicitly asked "Are you masturbating in here?" is it really that crass or is there some subtlety to the scene in question?

Also, presumably the voices other than Prime's were said to be placeholders?

It'd be nice to hear impressions about the faceplate-less Prime too. Did he have a traditionally humanoid face or was it more akin to the elongated leaked pics?

The masturabation references were blantant. It was in a "humorous" scene where he's trying to hide the Autobots in his garden and his parents come in. His mother asks him if hes been masturbating, and both Sam and his father look shocked. She asks again and he says no no, and she says something along the lines of "well we don't have to call it that if you don't want, we can call it 'Sam's special time' or "my private time"".

There is reference just before hand, though only reference to Sams porn collection which is hidden in his room when they are searching for the glasses.

As for Optimus face, it as like the leaked pictures, though this is the main scene which in which the CGI jumped between different stages of completion. You clearly saw his eyes and mouth, which in some ways looked more eerie than some of the Decepticons.

As for the voices, it was too hard to tell, some did seem very familar though. I'm hoping that the sound of the voices is improved for the final film though as the Autobots ended up sounding rather cold and not simple.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure what to think about this news. I am questioning quite why they thought unsubtle masturbation references and porn collections had a place in a "family" movie, I must admit.

My best guess at this stage is simply to bump the age rating up a notch to at least a 12A. It isn't a very long scene, but you know the BBFC.

I would agree and didn't the MMPA in America rate a preview cut of it a PG-13 which equals a 12a here?

As far as I can see from the MMPA, it was only a rumour and there has been no submissions

Thanks, that clears things up a bit though I won't be surprised if it doesn't end up as a PG-13 ac ross there and a 12A here.

Cool report Moonies! Especially interested about the T-shirts, even more interested about the USB Keyrings Sounds very cool. Would love to see pics of the T-shirts/Keyrings if there are any out there yet(I guess it might be too early though)
