Good review Transforce! I just went to see the movie myself yesterday afternoon. I feel that I should give it a slightly lower rating of maybe 6 out of 10. This is because I felt that the new form for Megatron was just silly(I know that he couldn't be a gun like he was before because of all the Political Correctness and such, but it just wasn't right).
Optimus was indeed cool. Loved the new cars that were used(I'm sure GMC were loving all the advertising they were getting out of this!). I just couldn't get into the fact that the Transformers took on their new 'shapes' once they arrived on Earth and that Bumblebee was also so different from his original form(albeit a very very cool car!). I guess I am one of those people stuck in 1984. The ending leaves a nice start for a sequel though. I just think that bay changed the storyline a bit too much for my liking.
Interested to see what other people think if they've managed to see it already.

Political correctness is unlikely to be the reason, here is my take on the megatron not being a gun or something like a tank. Why would Megatron, a technologically superior being want to or need to turn into a gun? how in any shape or form or logic would that be of any use what so ever, or even make sense? Have a phat gun on him yes, but what is practical or useful about being a gun? A jet is perfect for him, transversing the stars requires a jet. A tank would be cool but again a slow form of travel. Imagine Megatron on a quest to take over a planet, transforms into a gun.....so er how do I get there again? I know I can let someone else pick me up. Being a gun = reliance on another to use him, something the concept and lore of megatron really does go against. Always amused me whe SS used to fire him in gun mode despite megatron's feelings toward him, Megatron was made a gun as there was a toy mould that was suitable inline with the original series. Same way many of the Characters looked like they did, to fit in with existing toy lines etc etc (omega supreme = omegatron grandstand toy and so on) That said the jet concept could have been done a bit better but its not bad. And the face...I can see megatron in the face, I know others can't seem to though. #edit meant to say, not a bad review if a bit empty
