I've just been looking at my childhood G1 Transformers, and I still just don't know how on earth they managed to end up like this, as with any playworn G1 Transformers, while playing with them, surely they weren't THAT mistreated?
I remember having respect for these toys when I was young, yet my Prowl and Jazz have broken pieces, very heavy chrome and sticker wear with some of the stickers even gone. They haven't got any accesories, which I can understand, as they're easy to lose as a kid, playing in the garden etc, but basically, they're knackered lol, and I just can't remember mistreating them that badly - but obviously I did.
Anyone got any pics of their mis-used Transformers and any stories behind them? Would like to hear any.

The one that shocked me was my Red Alert. Even though I had looked after him, and he was nice and tight, I didn't realise just how much the white had yellowed.
Although I've kept my original, I've now for a reissue one in my display.

It's wierd how transformers yellow. I'm aware of discolouration from star wars collecting, stormtroopers go famously yellow for instance. A big question in star wars forums is where the toys will be in say twenty odd years time, will carded figures bubble just become too yellow and brittle?
I guess the same applies to transformers, will the tape on misb items yellow and dry and fall off?

misb tape will wear and fall off dan. in about 30-40 years if you leave it in direct sunlight . sticky tape is stronger than youd think. its all about the elements, and how you store your tfs.imagine a mint yoda, would ya leave him a. in a nice room, not to hot ,not to cold,no big windows b.in a sauna c.in the fridge. hmm, sure someone had tfs in a fridge... may the forth be with you oh they missed a trick with that release date..... ;D welcome by the way, did i mention my friend kneel?
