Just gonna buy one but wondering how common this 'rust' problem is on the paint and is there anyway to combat it?

I haven't had it happen to mine... yet, and hopefully it won't happen.

Mine lives in his box. Theres a rust problem? Didn't know about that The one I've just got states that some of the chrome areas get covered with what appears to be rust but isn't (might be something in the paint oxidizing, not sure, I'm not a scientist and haven't seen the thing yet) but I've heard that it is easily cleaned off with wd40. Was hoping someone would have some experience of it on here.

Brass polish is supposed to make the feet and other metal parts look minty new again.

I've had mine on display for over a year now and yeh, there is a film on it but like is mentioned, it's definately not rust. I've seen it on other things before and as Swoop said brass polish should work. Mine might be the exception but it IS NOT rust.

It's not rust it's tarnish.
When I first heard about it, I wasn't sure what to do, but after looking in to it, Metal Polish does seem to be the answer.
I imported some MAAS Metal Polishing Creme from the U.S.A., which not only removes it, it's supposed to stop it from reappearing.

im glad the rusty problem is curable, i noticed mine had it a few weeks ago, if you do get one try to buy one from a company which does returns, i have heard about a lot of them breaking the first few times they get transformed from too tight joints

I think it was from the 2005 board, around the time the problem was first reported
