With Primal being the front runner for gratuitois behaviour in this catagory...
Did it add anything to the shos in your opinion or would you have been just as happy with the same characters and forms throughout.
Personally the only gripe I have in the TM1 body. In itself its fine but it just didnt seem necessary and maybe he should have goine straight to Optimal.

despite transmetals being excellent figures I still preferred the idea of the first wave... its the old robots in disguise. Although the idea was difficult to execute toy wise.
So I'd prefer if they had kept the Organic outer shell... I always figured it was just an upgraded version of pretender technology.

lol yeah just like the ol' TotalTF BW rpg.
But back on topic...
I agree some what. But the TM were just soooo nice I forgive them. I prefer some fo the characters desgins/looks before the chnages though which is a shame.
BlackArachnia for example went from a cool spidery female to something that didnt really resemble a spider and then in BM to something that didnt even look like a TF.

Yeah thats kinda my point...
Although they were clearly up grades I still prefered alot of the Original designes..
For instance Original Gorilla Primal was most definatly my favorate... I really didn't rate Optimal much. He was too... samey.
As cool as Transmetal forms were I just didn't see the point.... for example why be a transmetal bird when you can be a plane?..
It just didn't make too much sence although understandable the way The toon pulled it off.
I always belived that they were Vehicles before Beastwars as Beast modes would only be useful when it comes to fighting.
You know I've forgotten what I set out to say now so I'll shut up and hope this is some what related

lol I always liked the idea that their TM vehicle was base don their Warwithin like mode. So Tarantulas turned into a bike before the BW reformatted him, Cheetor a low flying jet, Primal some kind of sky surfing/strafing jet, Megs a helecoptor/VTOL jet. And so on.
The advent of Tm did make every other character a little redundant (except for Fuzors who were gievn the spotlight still). People like Airirazor and Tigatron got made to look even more silly.

Yeah I'm sure we had a similar disscussion about their modes before "Beasting up" Also their names...
I mean most of them are pretty dumb to be honist.. "I'm truckox" "Well I'm Bikeor"
They are bad... Bad I say. A bit like Go-Bot names.. although they were down right bizzar at times.
It makes perfect sence from a comercial stand point and take out the hastle of thinking of a totaly un animal related name.

One of the main characters in Darkening Sky will be a Transmetal Hippo called... Shippo, with a submarine 3rd mode (basically all his limbs tucked into his body).
The weird thing is I can really visualise this more than any character I've done. All 3 modes.

lol yeah it makes sense. Seems we have a new person for worst BW RPG name above Rodentmus Prime now.

Yeah that is indead worse than Rodentimus (not much though)
I guess its kinda makes sence that they would run out of beasts at some point so they move on to the more odd forms. I mean surely you wouldn't pick to be a hippo.
Neo did a good job of some odd animals. Although in BW2 and Neo non of them got Transmetal forms.. which might have been intresting.
I think they dont run with a gimmick long enough. There was still alot more potentiol in Fuzors in my opinion. Like a Sabertooth Tiger/ Gorilla for example ;D
Out of all the bots I think Optimal looked the most out of place.
Its actualy suprising he kept his BM body for so long at the rate he changed forms

Like a Sabertooth Tiger/ Gorilla for example ;D I'd agree, only the fuzors just weren't selling. Kids'll go for something they recognise a lot more often. Frankly, I there should've been a crocodile/bat cross, then we'd have an dragon thing earlier.

Bumping an old topic up. I didn't mind the Optimus Primal upgrades. At least there were decent story points for them (original body blown up first time round, mutation caused by G1 Prime's spark the second time). Compare that to Cheetor, who got a slightly gratuitious TM upgrade and then a really gratitious TM2 upgrade. And I think that the point of them being beast TFs got rather lost after Season 1. I still prefer vehicle TFs by a long way, but you have to respect BW for trying something entirely different from G1 in it's first season. After that, they might almost have changed the name of the show from Beast Wars.

[glow=blue,2,300]The TV upgrades weren't so out of flux with the rest of the show that it broke plausibility. Also, real machines get upgrades all the time, why not fantasy machines?
Plus, it's alot easier on the ol' logic circuits than a slew of new characters turning up out of the ether. . . ;D[/glow]

I think it was a relatively good idea it was just overdone. Much like repaints. Fans will accept a few but get annoyed when it's overdone.
