Its coming out via Rhino, which means Metrodome may well be have / be able to get the rights to it, though if they did it would be unlikely to see a UK release till 2007 or 2008 as they'll be concentrating next year on Headmaster and then, assuming it sells, the other Japanese series.
I forget who has the UK rights to Beast Wars, but they will be the best chance of a license.
Though, honestly, since the toy line failed over here, I'll not be taking chances and will import.

I personally see it as BW season 4 and 5. It's a continuation of the same characters (some of them) in the aftermath of the Beast Wars.
It didn't sit well with many fans because many believe characters were changed too much from what they had come to know of them.
Personally I think its the best TF series ever and a fitting succesor to BW although opbviously it isnt without fault.
Not much more I can tell you without spoilers on BW and BM itself.
