Nope. I can't find any die cast on mine at all, plus it's lighter in it's box than MP-01 in out of box.
Avoid - Don't waste the money and wait for hasbro's more acurate one (if they do).

I know what you mean by how light the toy is. Its got some diecast but its mainly in the internal structure. I was thinking Hasbro may do a version but as with their version of MP-01 what are the chances that we'll see chopped off bits?

He is one of the few tf's i display in vehicle mode - he is absolutley perfect and worth every penny (or pound).
He is at the minute one of my favourite of all my tf's.

I've seen numerous complaints about teh qualtiy of the plastic from which the figure is molded.
Having seen felt and transformed Galaxy Force toys, compared to Cybertron toys, it feels a little like "airfix" model plastic whereas the Hasbro molded figures are heavier and more robust feeling. Is MP 03 similar in materials to this? A sort of light and brittle element to it's tactile quality?

OK so I am answering my own post here, please bear with...
In my humble (and probably biased) opinion, OMG!!!!
I am surprised. Very pleasantly surprised indeed. Masterpiece Starscream is truly a masterpiece. And very much a transformer from the 'good ol' days', in so much as it is a very good representation of a real vehicle and also a wonderfully believable robot.
Like any TF he has a few loose joints, wobbly bits or slightly misaligned pieces but they are very minor and don't detract from the look or posability. The attention to detail is astounding, so much so in the F15 mode, everything looks to be there especially with the cockpit and radar dome and all the little extras. Even the colour doesn't look as awful 'in the flesh'. He is light and the plastic is just like all the japanese tTF's I have ever handled, feels brittle but does have a level of flexability. Just like almost everyone else has said, the transformation process does make you sweat when trying to free or fold some area's but by gum! He's so worth it at the end.
Although some of the rumours about quality may be true and the colour is not GeeWun or Amine, me personally? I would give him a 9 out of 10 because nothing is ever perfect.

I second almost every one of Cake's comments.
This is one of the most impressive toys I have had the chance to own in several years. It was pricey but doesn't dissapoint on any level. Not only is the figure itself amazing in both modes but the accessories amplify the appeal even further.
This is a toy that will always have it's haters but for me it is the best Transformer figure in some years.

quote from xybertoys newsletter
"Those who have purchased a MP-03 Starscream, congrats! As Japan now is officially out of stock of this item, and this item has only seen a single production run with no plans for another run in sight. This Starscream would be a rarity in a short time to come."
so its sold well then

"No plans for another run in sight"
They will certainly be producing again. Why?
Because just like prime, I want one boxed, and one to play with, just like many other people.
And what about all those other people who didn't get one?
There's too much demand for this stuff....

Got mine today, and as others have said, worth every penny. I am well pleased, even my parents are impressed which given their normal opinions of my hauls is a landmark achievement.

Hasbro will do there "cartoon accurate version", so space permitting it could be nice to get 1 of both.
We still need to order ours.
